Try Refreshing Fruit Infused Waters

Try infused water for a healthy

summer drink!

If you have been in our store recently, you may have noticed that we started offering fruit and vegetable infused water. These drinks are tasty, refreshing, easy to make, and best of all, healthy and good for you! Fruit infused water has practically no calories, making this a guilt free summer drink and an easy way to stay hydrated. Most people find plain water boring to drink but with infused water the flavor possibilities are endless!

WAter2You can infuse your water with a wide variety of herbs, spices, fruits, vegetables, and even edible flowers! Popular items include:

Herbs: Rosemary, Thyme, Mint, Basil, Cilantro

Spices: Cinnamon Sticks, Ginger, Cloves

Fruits:  Berries, Melon, Citrus, Tropical Fruits

Vegetables: Cucumber, Celery, Carrots

Edible Flowers: Rose, Lavender, Citrus Blossoms, Hibiscus

To get the best flavor, rinse off your fresh produce and use thin slices or small cubes. The fruits and veggies can be left peeled or unpeeled, its up to you. Thin slices or small cubes will infuse more quickly. The longer the water sits, the more flavor it will have. Citrus will infuse almost instantly and herbs will take a little longer to give flavor to the water. Berries will take a few hours and also turn the water colored while infusing.

Water4The best part about this beverage is that there is no way you can mess it up! There are no set recipes and if you add more or less produce to your water, it isn’t going to hurt anything. Infused water allows you try experiment and find the flavors that your tastebuds enjoy the most.

When using citrus, it can be helpful to remove the rind. Citrus rinds produce bitter flavors, so if you want to stick to the fruity flavor that is intended, skip the rind and add more fruit! It is also important to take the flavor of the herbs you are using into consideration. If you use too much of a strong herb, like rosemary, it can overpower the infused water with flavor. You can never go wrong with mint and we here at Custom Landscaping switch it up and use different types in our water every day!
